Pini Kidula is the founder and director of Jitokeze Wamama Wafrika. She established this grassroots community-based organization on her return to her home in Kenya after studying economic development at Eastern University. She seeks to improve food security in the semi-arid regions of Kenya by empowering marginalized adults and children who have been adversely affected by droughts and conflicts induced by climate change to access, own, and sustainably manage productive assets and participate in the peace building process in their communities.
Program will involve listening to Pini’s stories about her challenging work and personal journey among her people in West Pokot, Kenya, threaded through with time for personal self-reflection, and small and large group dialogue.
Carol Kortsch, the board chair of Friends of Jitokeze will facilitate this retreat. She was born and raised in Africa and is now a retreat facilitator trained by Parker J Palmer and the Center for Courage & Renewal.
She will guide this program based on the Circle of Trust® approach.
