Angola-Sakeji reunion May 20-23, 2011

Stonehaven is hosting a very special event this coming week.  I am sure you are wondering what on earth the Angola-Sakeji reunion is!  First of all, Angola is not the notorious US prison, but a beautiful country in Africa.  I was born there a while back … when it was still under the colonial Portuguese rule.

Along with my good British friend Brian Long, we will be hosting our ‘old’ buddies from childhood. Ever since our remarkable 2008 trip back to our  roots, Brian and I have been scheming how to get our friends back together. So we have invited all those Angolan missionary kids and other close friends from boarding school – Sakeji School in Zambia, (then called Northern Rhodesia), to meet up and catch up on the past decades. What fun…

Twenty-four of us, coming from  all over  – Angola, England, Canada, and the US will be celebrating at Stonehaven and Eastern University. I wonder what it will be like sitting all together in a circle again.  We have some pretty unusual memories to catch up on.  I get the sense I’ll be writing about it sometime soon.  Stay tuned- and if you hear lots of laughter in the garden and yes, probably a few tears from the nostalgic ones like me, then you’ll know we are having a grand reunion.
